About Rice Lake Glass & Door
Rice Lake Glass & Door Co., Inc. has served Northern Wisconsin since 1948 — over 75 years of continuous, family-owned operation. Founded by Donald and Roy Curnow, the company passed to Jerry Curnow in 1973 and is today led by third-generation owner Nels Curnow, who has stewarded it since 2003. This is not a corporate franchise or a national chain. It is a tightly-knit, locally rooted contractor that has earned its reputation through consistent, quality work on projects that matter to real communities.
Based in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, we operate primarily across Northwestern Wisconsin, with a portfolio that spans commercial construction, healthcare, education, public works, and residential projects. Our home is a purpose-built facility opened in 2017, designed to support modern fabrication and efficient project delivery.

Specialty & Unique Projects
We actively seek out challenging, one-of-a-kind projects that other contractors pass on. Our portfolio includes work on properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places and National Parks — restoration and repair requiring precision, patience, and deep craft knowledge. If a project is unusual, complex, or requires creative problem-solving, we want to hear about it.
Technology Advantage
Rice Lake Glass invests in technology that makes our team more capable and our work less physically punishing — for everyone's long-term benefit. In the field, we operate both a THOM glass manipulator and a SmartLift glass manipulator, giving our installers the right tool for any lift situation and keeping heavy glass moving safely without putting backs and bodies at risk. In the shop, we run a Tigerstop automated saw and RhinoFab fabrication system, which drive precision and speed while reducing the repetitive strain that comes with manual cutting and fab work. These aren’t just efficiency tools — they’re a direct investment in the people who use them every day.
Trusted Brands
We work with industry-leading manufacturers including Tubelite, Wausau, Ceco Door, Raynor, Ideal Door, Liftmaster Professional, and H Window.

Culture & Work Environment
Rice Lake Glass is a small, close-knit team of 11 people. That size is intentional. Everyone knows everyone. There's no bureaucracy between you and the owner, no anonymous HR department, no corporate performance review cycle. When something needs to be said, it gets said directly. When something needs to get done, everyone pitches in.
We work hard — and we enjoy it. The people here take genuine pride in their craft and in each other. That shows up not just on the job site but off it. We spend time together outside of work by choice, not obligation. Company-sponsored fishing trips and hunting trips are a regular part of how this team operates. We hire people, not just skill sets, and we keep them.
Our team of 11 includes 8 field installers, 1 fabricator, and 2 office staff — a lean, capable crew where every person's contribution is visible and valued.
