Windsor Windows & Doors has built a reputation of quality and value among architects, builders, contractors, and homeowners. We started as a regional wood window company in Windsor Heights, Iowa and in 1987, we were purchased by Woodgrain Millwork, Inc of Fruitland, Idaho.
Woodgrain began as Dame Lumber & Moulding, founded by Bud Dame, in 1954. Bud pioneered the manufacturing of wood mouldings. In 1984, Dame Lumber & Mouldings merged with a subsidiary to form Woodgrain Mouldings. In 1988, the name was officially changed to Woodgrain Millwork. Bud’s two sons, Reed and Kelly Dame, are currently the owners of Woodgrain Millwork and they and their family members continue to oversee the operations.
Woodgrain has grown into the largest manufacturer of mouldings and interior doors in the United States. Six separate divisions are now part of the Woodgrain family: Sawmills, Millwork, Distribution, Doors, Windows, and Transportation. Woodgrain Millwork currently employs over 6000 people throughout North America and in Chile, South America.
We’ve come a long way since we built our first window in 1946. Since joining Woodgrain, Windsor has streamlined its manufacturing processes, inve...sted in state-of-the-art equipment, engineered innovative new designs, and expanded the product offering. Windsor’s corporate headquarters is located in West Des Moines, IA. The manufacturing plant in that location occupies 340,000 square feet. We recently built a 160,000 square foot facility in Norwalk, IA, about 10 miles away from our corporate office. This plant is now dedicated to vinyl window production. We also operate a 200,000 square foot production facility in Monroe, North Carolina that services the eastern portion of the US and in 2023 we broke ground for a new facility in this location.
We manufacture four distinct product lines and ship these products throughout the United States and into Canada and Mexico.
