SUMMARY Responsible for moderately complex product implementation/improvement projects. Coordinates work within the scope of assigned projects to ensure objectives in terms of process improvements, quality, cost, and time are met. Serves as a resource to others as assigned, providing technical information and engineering recommendations that assist with projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop and implement design changes for productivity, customer service, new product development, and quality improvements. • Manage projects of varying levels in parallel. • Implements product designs within the schedule and budget parameters. • Identifies and communicates implementation problems or resource issues that may affect the schedule or budget. • Analyzes the risks of new designs or processes and communicates results to Product Manager and Sr. Engineer. • Provides support to manufacturing to ensure product is fabricated and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design. • Interfaces with others in the organization and customers to jointly determine customer needs and solutions. • Develops, implements and/or supports assigned technologies, products, and processes. • Prepares project schedules and reviews cost estimates, compiles required cost and equipment information, and writes appropriation requests. • Responsible for effective communication of engineering information among cross functional stakeholders. • Works closely with Engineering Manager and PD&D Manager. Follows the structure of EFCO’s Safety, Quality, Project Management & Continuous Improvement Systems from concept through project execution. • Ensures that criteria are met with regards to qualification and repeatability as well as manufacturing handoff requirements. • Performs work which involves conventional practice but may include a variety of complex features, such as conflicting design requirements, incomplete market requirements, unsuitability of standard materials and multiple project coordination. • Independently evaluates, selects and applies engineering principles to product and process modifications. • Exercises independent judgment to define project objectives and engineering / scientific approach. • Assignments may require development of unclear objectives and require investigation of multiple variables. • Hours may fluctuate based on business needs and sometimes on short notice. • Overnight travel may be expected with this position based on project assignments. • Responsible for other projects as assigned by supervisor.
SUPERVISING RESPONSIBILITIES: Primarily an individual contributor role; however, capable of leading team members assigned to implement technical projects and monitor processes.
EDUCATION and/or DEVELOPMENT: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Math, or relevant Science or combination of education and 3+ experience. Responsible for ongoing development of technical and leadership competencies.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Technical / functional skills: Familiar with Thermal modeling, Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Project preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: Lean Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
